It completely passed my attention that it was the solstice until late
afternoon. Ordinarily I would treat it as a day off from everything but
the essentials - I take the day off of work too. I need to sync back into the rhythm of the year I think, the past few months have been a bit of a blur.
I had a very early, drawn out hospital appointment with the youngest which tied up most of the morning; and after lunch there wasn't much time left over before the school pickup. What to do?
A whole lot of nothing. I cast-on a new face cloth:
The pattern is Picot Swirl Cloth by Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. I suspect that I've made an error in the first 'wedge', but only time will tell. I love to knit and crochet, but have very little need for new knit or crochet items at the moment. However, I 've recently switched to hot-cloth cleansing my face and need a bigger supply of cloths, which gives me a lovely excuse to break out the needles.
I read a few chapters of Jambusters by Julie Summers, the book on which Home Fires is based; and it's fascinating! I made a promise to myself last month that I would read for at least half an hour every day. I was always that child with my nose in a book; and ironically I read less and less the further into my formal education I got. I've read just a handful of books cover to cover since university, relying instead on the steady bombardment of internet reading to inform and entertain me, which is a very energy intensive way to get information and entertainment.
Going forward, less screen time, more books (and knitting).
